How I started Windsurfing: I grew up in a surfing family so never had a chance. I started windsurfing when I was about 14. Learnt to windsurf on the Hamilton Lakes, and from about 16 eventually got good enough to go out to Raglan (New Zealand, west coast) with my cousin. Fanatically windsurfed and surfed Raglan pretty much on a weekly basis, until I moved to Wellington in 1999. Raglan is still home, and I really miss the long hollow left hand point breaks.
Best windsurfing day in my life: Taranaki Wave Classic 2006. Massive and light Kina Road. No one could get out the back at first, because it was so heavy. I kept on pushing it, and was the first to make it out the back to sail clean double mast high waves. The bottom turns seemed to last forever, and you could feel the wave breathing down your neck squeezing the adrenaline out of you.
Other sponsors besides Fanatic: Neil Pryde, Wildwinds
My Goals: To get on the water as much as possible, and to enjoy every minute of it.
My Slogan: Go hard or go home
